From the moment it was announced that Jr NTR would return to the big screen as a solo lead after six years with Devara Part 1, expectations were through the roof. The film also marked his reunion with Janatha Garage director Koratala Siva.

While many predicted a strong opening on September 27, few foresaw the immense level of success it achieved. With a domestic opening of Rs.82.5 crore and a global box-office total of Rs.172 crore, Devara continued its impressive run over the weekend, adding another Rs.78.5 crore domestically on Saturday and Sunday.

Devara Part-1 Debuts at Second Position at Worldwide Box Office

According to Comscore, Devara Part 1 claimed the second spot at the worldwide box office, trailing The Wild Robot but surpassing Beetlejuice and Transformers One. The Jr NTR starrer grossed Rs.275 crore globally during its opening weekend.

Devara garnered $32.9 million, while The Wild Robot led with $44 million. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice earned $29 million, and Transformers One took the fourth spot with $25 million.”

Devara Part 1 Domestic Box Office Collection

On Sunday, the film’s earnings in India slightly surpassed those of Saturday, bringing in approximately Rs.40.3 crore on its third day. The second-day domestic collection stood at Rs.38.5 crore, pushing the global total to an impressive Rs.243 crore.

Devara has already outperformed films like Stree 2, securing the second-largest opening for an Indian film in 2024. The top spot remains with ‘Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD.

Despite a 50 percent drop on days 2 and 3 from its Rs.82.5 crore opening, Devara’s early 1 am screenings boosted its Day 1 numbers. Sunday’s strong performance hints at continued success, with the film set to surpass Rs.300 crore globally by Day 3.

A key aspect of Devara’s success is highlighted by its strong Hindi version, contributing 16% of the Rs.161 crore earned in three days. The Hindi collections grew steadily, from Rs 7.5 crore on Day 1 to Rs 11 crore on Day 3.

This is credited to RRR’s wide appeal, Jr NTR’s TV success in Hindi, and extensive promotions by the cast, including Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Jahnvi Kapoor. The film has also performed steadily in Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam markets, thanks to robust promotional efforts.
