Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail (born 7 September 1951), known mononymously by the Mammootty, is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Malayalam-language films. He has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English-language productions. In a career spanning five decades, he has appeared in more than 420 films, predominantly in lead roles.
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most iconic actors in the history of Indian cinema. As of 2023, Mammootty has won 3 National Awards for Best Actor, a record 9 Kerala State Film Awards, 11 Kerala Film Critics Awards, and a record 13 Filmfare Awards South. Mammootty received his first National Film Award for Best Actor in 1990 forOru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Mathilukal.
The Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 1998 for his contribution to film. In 2022, he was honoured with the Kerala Prabha Award, the second-highest civilian honour given by the Government of Kerala.

In 1994, he secured his second National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Vidheyan and T. V. Chandran’sPonthan Mada.
