As you heard many Film Awards were organized in India in different states on different occasions to celebrate Indian cinema all over the world to enhance the skills of actors and actresses and also directors or singers or those who perform well for Indian cinema. In this blog of National Film Awards 2024, you all may know about the Filmfare Marathi Awards which are presented annually to both the artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Marathi film industry of India.
The ceremony has been sponsored by various private organizations both in the past and in current provision. During the 1990s, a live broadcast of the ceremony was aired on television for several years, but later it was discontinued for unknown reasons. In 1963 the awards were expanded to include Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali languages.
The award presentation has been inconsistent since its inception. Currently, a recorded and edited version of the ceremony is broadcast on television.
Marathi Filmfare Awards: History and First Award
The awards were first given in 1963 and the ceremony used to be held along with Bollywood Filmfare Awards. Initially, in 1953, they organized the Hindi Film Industry.
By 1963, the awards were expanded to include the Best Picture categories for Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, and Bengali Films. In 1974 the awards were extended to Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director categories.
Mazha Hoshil Ka was the first movie to win the award for Best Film.
Statuette
The Statuette commonly known as the “Black Lady” (or “Lady in Black”) portrays a woman with arms raised gracefully in a dance pose, her fingers touching at the tips. It was originally crafted by N.G. Pansare under the supervision of The Times of India‘s art director Walter Langhammer, it is generally made of bronze, its height is 46.5 cm and it weighs around five kg.
The Red Carpet
The Red Carpet is an event that occurs before the beginning of the actual ceremony. This is where actors, actresses, directors, singers, composers, producers, and others who have contributed to Indian cinema are introduced. Hosts question the celebrities about the upcoming performances and who they think deserves to take the Black Lady home.

As of 2017, a total of 26 awards were presented across various categories. There is a distinct category for the ‘Critics Award’, which is determined by renowned film critics instead of popular votes. Awards are distributed in the following categories.
