54th Kerala State Film Award: Prithviraj Sukumaran won the Best Actor award while Urvashi and Beena R Chandran bagged Best Actress. The awards were announced today, August 16.
Prithviraj Sukumaran received the Best Actor award, while Urvashi and Beena R Chandran were jointly honored with the Best Actress award. Mammootty’s film ‘Kaathal – The Core’ named as Best Picture. Blessy earned Best Director Award for his work in ‘Aadujeevitham’.
The jury was chaired by veteran director Sudhir Mishra, with director Priyanandanan, cinematographer Alagappan, director Lijo Jose Pellissery, and writer NS Madhavan also serving as members.

Prithviraj Sukumaran received the Best Director Award for his role in the director Blessy’s ‘Aadujeevitham’. The Best Actress Award was shared between Urvashi for her performance in Christo Tomy’s ‘Ullozhukku’ and Beena R Chandran for her film ‘Thadavu’. This is Urvashi’s sixth National Award in her career.
The director Blessy’s film ‘Aadujeevitham- The GOAT Life’ is based on the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel of the same name by Benyamin. This is a story about a Malayali immigrant laborer, Najeeb, who is forced into slavery in Saudi Arabia.
Written and directed by Christo Tomy, ‘Ullozhukku’ is a drama starring Uravshi and Parvathi Thiruvothu in the lead roles. It revolves around a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law who uncover secrets of each other after the death of the man in the house.
